Faster Than a Flying Blue Jay

Toolool!  Toolool!  What’s faster than a flying Blue Jay?

Nothing is faster than a flying Blue Jay except for maybe a hungry Blue Jay.  You should have seen George at the feeder.  He finds a prime place among the branches to watch the ground and then he picks the perfect moment to drop and grab.  It is like poetry in motion.  My  George is awesome!  He doesn’t waste any time.  He moves so fast he’s a blur.

Now me?  I like to take my time, so to speak.  I am quick, too, but I like to show off my fabulous blue feathers.  Don’t you think I’m pretty?

Oh, Boy, It’s Tonight!!!!

Hi, everyone!  Sera here.  I’m so excited I can barely type!  It’s Christmas Eve!  The nice lady has already been outside several times feeding us critters here in the neighborhood.  We’ve had blackoil sunflower seed, a wild birdseed mix, critter crunch, peanuts and new orange flavored suet nuggets.  We are well-taken care of here for Christmas.  Santa Claws comes tonight, and we all know that he will bring us what we asked him for for Christmas. What did we all ask him for?

serasanta You know I asked him for more peanuts because you can never have enough peanuts.  They are so yummy to eat, and they are good for burying.  Then I can dig them up later for a yummy mid-winter snack.

Sydney asked him for some more of the good seed so she’ll have enough to keep her and Miss Lily fed, healthy and warm all winter long.  If he brings enough, we know that Sydney will share with those who are in need. Sydney is loving and giving that way.

Sandy asked him for some foreign language books (she’s learning German).  She also wants an ear of corn smeared with peanut butter.  It makes it hard to grip the corn that way, but the peanut butter is so extra creamy and yummy. It keeps us squirrels warm in the cold, and Sandy likes to hop up and grab the corn cob and slide down yelling, “Wheeeee!” when she slides off.

Prudence asked him for some extra shiny acorns for both her and George.  Her winter cache is pretty full, but both Prudence and George like to spend those snowy winter nights polishing the acorns to a high gloss sheen. It reminds them of sunny summer days and gives them something to dream about.  Besides the inside of those acorns are extra tasty and just what a blue jay wants when it’s cold.

Don’t forget to put cookies and milk out for Santa Claws tonight.  He likes the peanut butter cookies best.  Don’t forget the carrots for the reindeer!  I hope you all get exactly what you want this Christmas!  Hugs and kisses from all of us here in the neighborhood around the gray house.

santaclawsMerry Christmas!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s a Great Day to be a Blue Jay

It’s a great day to be a Blue Jay!  The snow is fresh and white so it shows off the fabulous blue of our feathers!  The peanuts are fresh served so they are yummy and tasty.  The squirrels are not around so the peanuts are all mine and George’s.  We had a delightful breakfast this morning. The only thing marring the morning was the visit from the Three Stooges.  They eat EVERYTHING, and they are rude about it, too!
